Step Up and Excel supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families facing poverty, racial discrimination, housing insecurity, and a lack of culturally appropriate services. Our programme offers trusted, consistent support that meets both the emotional and practical needs of children and their carers.

What We Do

We provide tailored sessions that help children and young people with SEND thrive while giving their families the support they need to rest, connect, and grow stronger together. From creative and sensory activities to youth leadership opportunities, Step Up and Excel creates inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued.

Our services include:

  • Respite sessions with sensory play, painting, movement, music, and storytelling
  • Family trips to inclusive venues such as sensory spaces, nature trails, and sports parks.
  • Carers’ Circle providing peer support, self-care, and practical advice for parents and carers.
  • Light-touch advocacy to help families access services, understand their rights, and engage in their children’s education.
